Authentic Therapy

If you’ve found yourself here, it may be because life feels heavier than it should. Maybe you’ve been carrying trauma for years, or maybe you’ve recently realized that being neurodivergent (Autism, ADHD, or both) has shaped your life in ways you’re still unpacking.

You want to feel understood, validated, and safe — not judged, dismissed, or told to “just try harder.”

At Mental Masters Counseling, I provide authentic, neurodivergence-affirming, and trauma-informed therapy for young millennials and Gen Z adults across Florida. This is a space where you can unmask, unpack, and uncover the parts of yourself you’ve been hiding — so you can finally feel at home in your own skin.

Who I Help…

  • Struggle with boundaries, people-pleasing or perfectionism

  • Feel guilty for resting, saying no, or prioritizing themselves

  • Carry the weight of childhood or relationship trauma (often unrecognized for years)

  • Experience emotional overwhelm, burnout, or shutdowns

  • Use coping mechanisms like doom scrolling, overworking, or impulsivity just to get by

  • Want closer, more intimate relationships but feel disconnected or stuck at the surface

Therapy with Mental Masters is for people who feel “too much” and “not enough” all at once.

My clients often:

My Specialties

I specialize in helping young adults heal from complex trauma and navigate life as neurodivergent individuals (Autism, ADHD, or both).

Each of these identities can feel isolating on their own — together, they can feel overwhelming.

Therapy offers a place where you don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) helps your brain process traumatic memories in a way that makes them feel less overwhelming. It’s especially powerful for CPTSD, where trauma feels like it’s woven into every part of your life.

ADHD in adulthood is more than being “distracted.” It often means exhaustion, shame, and a constant feeling of underperforming despite working so hard. Therapy can help you unlearn shame, embrace your strengths, and create systems that actually fit your brain.

Being autistic in a neurotypical world often means masking, misunderstanding, and burnout. Adult autism therapy helps you explore your identity, honor your sensory and relational needs, and build a life that feels authentic.

Complex trauma isn’t just about flashbacks — it’s about how your past shaped your sense of self, your relationships, and your nervous system. CPTSD therapy gives you tools to regulate, heal shame, and build safe connections.

My Approach to Therapy

Therapy at Mental Masters is:

  • We go at your pace. Healing takes time, and you don’t have to “push through” here.

  • I bring my full self into the room, and I invite you to do the same.

  • You don’t need to hide the parts of yourself you’ve judged or been judged for.

  • Some days you’ll want practical tools. Other days you’ll just need to be heard. Both are welcome.

  • We can laugh, use metaphors, and embrace silliness — even while doing the heavy work.

Why “Authentic Therapy” Matters

So many of my clients have had therapy before that just didn’t fit. Maybe they were told they were “too sensitive” or that they just needed to move on from the past. Maybe they felt unseen because their therapist didn’t understand what it means to be neurodivergent.

At Mental Masters Counseling, authenticity means:

  • Therapy where your whole self is welcome — not just the “polished” parts

  • A therapist who gets what it’s like to live with ADHD, Autism, or trauma

  • A relationship where laughter and depth can co-exist

  • Permission to stop performing and start being

About Me

I’m Megan Smith (she/her), a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern (RMHCI) in Florida. My own journey with depression, trauma, Autism, and ADHD inspired me to create the kind of therapy space I once needed: affirming, playful, and shame-free.

When I’m not in session, you’ll usually find me with coffee in hand, binge-watching The Office or New Girl, or enjoying something sour and fizzy like kombucha. Clients often describe me as warm, witty, and dynamic — someone who makes therapy feel both safe and real.

What Therapy Can Look Like for You

Over time, therapy can help you move from surviving to thriving — from guilt and shame to confidence and truth.

  • Your quirks are celebrated

  • Your trauma is honored, not minimized

  • Your needs are valid and worthy of attention

  • Your coping skills are adapted, not shamed

  • Your relationships can begin to feel safer and more connected
